The never-before-told stories about your favorites from the gal who PERSONALLY knows them all—ANN MOSES

Whew! What a great, gassy, groovy pop-filled month this has been and summer’s still ahead of us! Everyone in town was giving parties and each one had it’s [sic] own special flavor because of the different precious people who were invited.

Before the BEE GEES left Hollywood, LEE HAZELWOOD gave a party in their honor at his beautiful Spanish home in the valley. Everyone in town seemed to appear at one time or another during the evening to congratulate the BEE GEES on their great show the week before.

Along with a host of pop stars, such big-time name talents as jazz drummer BUDDY RICH and longtime star, KEELY SMITH came to meet the BEE GEES, who looked gorgeous in their hand tailored suits. They’re given up wearing the freaky gear of several months ago for smartly tailored mod suits and ties. Now there’s a nice idea for a trend!

MONKEE PETER played host this month for a large gathering which is not a typical scene at his house, where the gatherings are usually small and sedate. Following the JIMI HENDRIX EXPERIENCE’S Concert PETER invited JIMI, NOEL and MITCH back to a shindig at his place.

Also in attendance were DAVID CROSBY, JIM FRAWLEY, MICKY DOLENZ with SAMMY, and GRAHAM NASH of the HOLLIES. Most of the peaceful evening was spent trying out different health food combinations—the new kick at PETER’S. The crowd also enjoyed listening to tracks from the forthcoming MONKEE album.

Another MONKEE that played host for an evening was MICKY. RODNEY BINGENHEIMER, who is everyone’s friend at one time or another, took HOLLIE GRAHAM NASH up to the MONKEE chalet to see MICKY’S new wonder machine. SAMANTHA and GRAHAM had a great visit reminiscing about the pop scene in England and tasting the different flavored popscicles in MICK’S freezer.

Info Davy (left) and Maurice had a chance to see each other again. They met in London when Davy had dinner with Maurice.

What GRAHAM liked most of all was MICKY’S $1600 Colortron, which flashes lights on the wall in relation to sound. For example, a bass line on a record would show red, high voices would show blue, etc., a different color for each different sound. As the song fades out, so do the colors. GRAHAM watched his album “King Midas/Dear Eloise” play and they found out that the HOLLIES’ album is brighter than the BEATLES’ “Sgt. Pepper” album!

The HOLLIES, who were in town for some network television shows, did one show at the Whiskee-a-go-go on Valentine’s Day so that all their friends in L.A. could see them play live. This was their first appearance in Hollywood and they put on a fantastic show!

Admirers and friends of the HOLLIES in the audience were CASS ELLIOT and her date, LEE KIEFER, LOU ADLER, DAVY JONES, MICKY DOLENZ, who introduced the group, MIKE NESMITH, ERIC BURDON and ANIMAL JOHNNY WEIDER, MARVIN GAYE, JACKIE DESHANNON, STEVIE, NEIL and BRUCE of the BUFFALO SPRINGFIELD, LEE HAZELWOOD, BRIAN WILSON and DAVID CROSBY.

The people I should be so used to interviewing have really been blowing my mind lately. Like the other morning at MARK’S. When I arrived for the interview around noon, he hadn’t had a chance to eat breakfast, so I suggested we do the interview while he ate.

I ended up eating as much as he did! First, it was “try the Virginia Ham,” then “you must try some Raspberry juice, it’s fantastic” and finally “how about some tea?” After he finished breakfast and I finished sampling everything, he played the RAIDERS’ “Goin’ To Memphis” album, which is outasite.

When he played the new single “Too Much Talk” I noticed a funny beeping sound in the background. Suddenly MARK looked so pleased. “Great! You noticed!” In the background, if you listen closely you can hear morse code spelling out L-O-V-E to the beat of the groovy song!

Other bits of info imparted by MARK that morning were: MARK finally got his Rolls after waiting five months while it was being customized… FREDDY and JOE, JR. bought new Volkswagens to drive around town and the day they picked them up JOE was convinced he had the faster car. So off to a deserted road they went and with all the guys watching FREDDY zipped past JOE, JR. At the end of the race JOE jumped out of his bug, opened the hood and kicked in the engine!

SAJID KHAN had a noble plan, a plan you don’t see or hear about often these days—he really wanted to answer all his fan mail himself. Unfortunately, SAJ had no idea he’d ever be receiving 2,000 letters a day. So SAJ asked me to relate his message that slowly, but surely he hopes to answer all his letters and he hopes his fans will be patient and understand.

Hollywood was buzzing not long ago as they were eager to see CHAD STUART’S new group. It’s not that CHAD and JEREMY have split, but JEREMY is doing his acting thing right now so CHAD set out to form a new group with a new sound. His group is called the CRUMBS! It stands for Columbia Records Unemployed Musicians Band. More later following their dramatic debut at the Whiskee.

SHORTIES: PRISCILLA PRESLEY gave birth to a 6 lb. 15 oz. baby daughter in a Memphis Hospital on Feb. 1. A father for the first time, ELVIS and his wife named the baby, LISA MARIE.

On Valentine’s Day, DAVY JONES’ father couldn’t get his door open. It was jammed shut by a flood of cards pushed through the mail box by DAVY’S loyal fans.

STAR BIRTHDAYS IN MAY: ERIC BURDON, the 11th; “LEK” LECKENBY of the HERMITS, the 14th; SUSAN COWSILL, the 20th.

SALLY FIELD and DAVY JONES are no longer dating, though they parted friends. That should clear up any marriage rumors!

At LEE HAZELWOOD’S party for the BEE GEES, NANCY SINATRA and MICK JAGGER were expected, but never showed.

Now sporting full beards and moustaches: BRIAN JONES and MICK JAGGER. DONOVAN now has a moustache.

Have a happy summer!
